Thanks Nicholas! So great to see the work in process! I look forward to having a group of “in process” and complete paintings to share. Art2Life! CVP! 👍👍👍

Thank you for the walk through of your work in progress. Your explanation gave me a much better understanding of how to set a standard and goal for the remaining pieces for your show. That short clip was very enlightening, thank you!

This is my WIP, ‘Ode to van Gogh’. It’s almost done. I loved seeing your studio and all the pieces you are working on!

I love your new work & work in progress. I’m really interested to see how the paintings with all the black progress.
Here are 2 recent paintings of mine & one in progress. I love the color palette, but I’m struggling to find a balance of soft & hard lines. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3b0c26c974e0ad58040a01a74910a0d0ba5e6746e34c9825ddae9b2480621d8b.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a106518f3452d6afe5e8be89f57db101b3f3791bc6ccf6cfc05d22fdb65de95b.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1dac57e7bc16d23f823052363695f92f5d39f6a0214262d3600e9ba722cb0cb7.jpg

Love your finished one. There is a diagonal in there that is so alive, connected to the anchor triangle, it tells me something completely different from all the pattern repetition. It is a breakout open diagonal that is like a runway to a bigger space. Thanks for the glimpse of your studio and work in progress. And Hello doggy!

  7. Andeana Duncton on February 19, 2017 at 7:29 am

Hi Nicolas love your finished piece. Here is a canvas I have recently finished. I like it and am happy with it but I haven’t created a focal point have I? Does one have to?? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5ec0262d00fb4953ee36e59ba9926cd55c2dab4f60b8662b5818effbfefc3f5a.jpg

Very intrigued by the dark circle on the left and the world within it – draws me into another space

You woke up the studio dog! LOL Happens to me all the time, Xs 3. They all like hanging out in there.

  9. Jo Murray on February 19, 2017 at 7:54 am

Great way to work (if you have the space). This most recent finished work has lots of stuff going on…collage, echidna quills, writing etc.

I am new to this group and this is my first in put. I love this piece! What size is it ? I am enchanted with all the activity and grounded by thebeautiful blue canal ( as I see it.) Wonderful.

      • Jo Murray on February 20, 2017 at 9:27 am

Thank you Elaine. It is 62 x 62 cm, mixed media on wide edge stretched canvas. The ‘canal’ actually represents a river flowing into the sea.

    • Nicholas Wilton on February 21, 2017 at 4:12 pm

Jo- nice to finally see your art here!echidna quills? ! What? fantastic….!

Thank you so much for your encouragement. Your advice has been indispensable.

Love seeing what you’re doing! Here’s one of my recent finished pieces. My challenge is not overworking things and not making everything even and symmetrical.

I like the post and your paintings are fabulous, but you tripped over your dog and didn’t apologize to him/her. Animals have feelings too.

  12. Beverly Spitzer on February 19, 2017 at 8:49 am

Great to see your work in progress. It is far too easy to overwork something that you like a lot.

Knowing when to stop is important but also knowing when not to give up and provide further. I love the bright colour geometric design.
Texture is important to me. I mixed some modelling paste with my acrylic in this picture. I also https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/95d24990b02fa63d4d33e101ef1673358ea44d206f8ef352a76c484cfb421354.jpg some metallic acrylic

  16. Danyelle Bachand on February 19, 2017 at 9:51 am

Great work Nicholas! Do you always work on as many paintings at the same time? When you finally decided which one will be your “master” painting at the show, do you inspire yourself from that painting to finish the others or you accept that they all differ in style? (I don’t know if I make myself clear… / do you make sure all the paintings relate to the “one” you think represent the most the new collection?)

  17. Ivy Jacobsen on February 19, 2017 at 9:52 am

This is the 1st painting I completed since watching your design and value videos. The information you shared is something I’ll think about going into each piece now, thank you!!

This is great! Thank you for sharing your Art and Studio. I’ll remember to add to my desire board that your studio is the one in my dreams!

    Say hello to your doggie🐾🐾

Here’s the painting currently on my easel. It’s in the mid stage and eventhough I began in an abstract way I took a risk and added the trees with vine charcoal. I’m experimenting with combining drawing and painting as well as working with a textured surface. Today I’ll be putting the desire and my art boards together👍

Love those three at the end of the video too as a contrast to more subtle work. Can’t but help noticing how your striped sweater adds design contrast, lol! OMG! When I saw the first one you showed in your video (great to see your set up and some of your works. The first one reminded me of the vision of a painting that I had “done” for the “gallery” when I closed my eyes to do the envisioning…triangles with bold colors! You are starting to influence me in my thoughts! Taking a break from art today. Great to see your whole space and great works! It’s great to be able to work on several at a time. Thanks for sharing.

I’m loving every minute of the CVP experience & hoping I can shift from painting small to creating large works. This is a little 5×7″ darling I created today for #the100dayproject on Instagram. I love seeing what you are working on and an up close look at your process. You are SO generous for sharing all of YOU! I recently had a breakthrough this past week while in Calistoga assisting teacher training. The process is not geared at having a “product” so to speak at the end however I had some great insight with this painting. It is not my usual style at all. I am still working my way through the Art2Life program and I want to credit you for encouraging me to push further with color. I mixed colors, scraped, scratched, flung paint and just played and followed the energy. The emotional rollercoaster was also a huge part of this painting and I love how it came together so I thought I would share it with you. rechttps://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e03e18d3d9e823d819bd6fb3eef92d310eeeeeb971a5f0acf85d3f0b07103602.jpg

You are the first artist that helped me understand and appreciate abstract work. I prefer realism when I paint but have played with abstract in a more intuitive way, but love the way you teach and hope to incorporate what I have learned from you in my future paintings. This one was done last night.

It’s always great to hear you talk about your process and thoughts. I’ve had a painters block for almost a year but I think I’m back at it. The real advice I Must follow is to work on more than one painting at a time. Thanks, Nicholas. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e2d28395ad728032123242039ebf72fee13c1b4dcc6c94f89db42202a305989e.jpg
