These old barns are all over West Marin.The subtlety of the lines and textures of the boards contrasting with the hard darks of missing ones seems to give these buildings a quiet strength.

Your barn photos and paintings remind me of beautiful old quilts which were made from fabric torn into strips and stitched together by loving hands who cherish the old enough to make something of it.
Jo, I agree. In fact I often like to describe the surface of my paintings like quilts. I like the idea of random parts all suprisingly put together into one. My Dad- also a painter , lives in Ashland- see his link to his blog on the margin of my blog- Cliff Wilton. Your pictures make me cold just looking at them. Beautiful but cold!
A good compropmse mght be pandora online something your chikldren want, wich cheap pandora will also be usefdul for them & you. Last year, scooter for one of the boys was a big hit as he cuild whistle down the street at him, then fold it & put it in the bag when he juumped on the bus or want to go inside the shopping center … Not bad for investment in accordance with $ 100.00. It saved me from going to take him with his bicycle many timse troughout the year. This Christmas does not maztter
