The simple trick that saved me so much money…

You know what I’ve been thinking about this week?

The way we can get so tight about our materials. The hesitation that creeps in when you’re staring at that tube of cadmium red, knowing it costs more than your lunch.

I get it. You want to make more art, but every brushstroke feels expensive. So you start being… careful. Precious. And suddenly, that freedom you need to make bold, honest work? It’s gone.

Here’s what happens: You hesitate. You try to make every mark count. And then when it’s not working, you pile more paint on top, trying to fix it. Now you’ve spent the money, used up the materials, and you’re still not happy with what’s in front of you.

It’s this frustrating loop that so many of us know too well.

I remember this vividly from my own journey. I was trying to work larger—my soul was calling for bigger canvases—but I literally couldn’t afford the amount of paint I needed. I was stretching every drop like it was liquid gold.

The tightness in my wallet was showing up as tightness in my work.

But here’s the thing I discovered back then, something simple that changed everything for me… and I’m sharing exactly what I learned in today’s Sunday BLOOM!

Because here’s what I know for sure: when you’re worried about wasting paint, you’re not making your best art. When you’re being precious with your materials, you’re being precious with your expression.

So here’s my question for you: How do you save on art materials without sacrificing the freedom your art needs?

Let me know in the comments after you watch today’s video.

I hope you get to make some art today… and not worry too much about using up the paint.

Your art is worth it. You’re worth it.

Talk soon, — Nicholas

P.S. That feeling of creative freedom you’re seeking? Sometimes it’s just about giving yourself permission to be a little less careful and a lot more curious.
