We’ve got it completely backwards…

You know what I hear constantly? All the reasons people can’t make their art…

“I need to wait until I have enough confidence.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I need a proper studio first.”
Or my personal favorite—“I have to wait until my weird relatives who judge everything move away.”

I’ve heard them all. Trust me.

But here’s what I’ve learned: We think we need confidence first, then we can make art. We think we need time first, then we can create.

But it’s the opposite. It’s the actual making of the art that gives us the confidence, the time, the energy. The answers come from the practice itself.

In today’s video, I share a story about a woman who was finally using art supplies she’d won in third grade. Third grade! She’d been too intimidated to touch them her whole life.

But then she shared something else. Something so vulnerable and moving that it stopped all of us.
