The Secret to Stress-Free Exhibitions

You know what used to absolutely kill me? Creating a body of work for a show.

The stress was unreal. I’d think about it constantly—lying in bed at night, worrying if I had seven pieces that worked and six that didn’t. What’s the show even going to be called? Is this all going to come together?

Everything would work out, but man, it was just so much mental spinning.

But here’s the thing—I’ve learned some stuff over the years that changed everything.

Right now, I’m working on about 15 paintings for a show. Some are working, some aren’t. And honestly? I’m not stressed about it anymore. It’s actually fun now.

I’ve figured out three simple things that make this whole process so much better.

Click below to watch today’s Sunday BLOOM, where I walk you through exactly what I do differently now, plus I’ll give you a tour of what I’m working on—the good, the bad, and the stuff I’m not even sure about yet.

Here’s what I want to know: How do you handle creating multiple pieces? Does the deadline stress get to you, or have you found your own way through it?

Let me know in the comments after you watch.

And listen—you can do this. Set up a show for yourself. Do an open studio in your house. Just pick a date and start making work. It’s really great.

I hope you get out and make some art today,
Nicholas

P.S. That painting I worked the least on? It’s seven by eight feet and might be my favorite so far. Sometimes the art knows better than we do.
