The Power of Creative Community: Why Art-Making is Transformative Together

The most transformative part of making art isn’t the curriculum or techniques—it’s the community. When you create with others, you’re carried by a wave of support that makes progress easier and faster. You become more courageous to try new things because you see everyone else doing it. The Creative Visionary Program community is non-competitive because everyone is on their own unique journey to become who they’re here on earth to be. This year, CVP introduces the Bloom Studio, a 24/7 open studio where artists worldwide can create together anytime.

A Conversation with the Coaches

I was in the studio with a few of our Art2Life coaches this week—Insa Hoffmann, Kate Rhodes, and Nadine Johnson—and we were talking about one of the most important and best parts of the Creative Visionary Program.

And that’s the community.

I’m telling you, you don’t realize how amazing it is until you’re in it.

We were sharing how transformative this is, and I wanted to capture it for you.

The Wave That Carries You

Here’s what Insa shared about the power of community in CVP:

“CVP is really like a wave that takes you on and you can really trust this wave. It will make your progress so much easier because we all are supporting each other. You will be carried by this wave and you will see that your painting will make so much progress in so little time. And it will be very easy because you have all our support.”

She continued with something I thought was so interesting about momentum:

“Sometimes when you’re alone you kind of get going and you got some momentum and then you can kind of lose it and you slow down. But when you’re with a group, there’s this kind of wave and people are making progress and you make decisions faster. It’s actually easier to progress.

You are more courageous to try out things because you see that everybody does it. So you are learning because you are more courageous trying things out.”

What Makes This Community Different

The thing that makes our community so amazing, and we hear this all the time, is that it’s not competitive.

And the reason it’s not competitive is because we know everyone’s an artist. Everyone’s on the same journey to discover and become who they’re here on earth to be. And everyone’s different.

I can’t be Insa. I can’t be Kate. I can only be me. And so all you can do is cheerlead each other. There’s no reason to be competitive. That just makes it so much more free and really, really fun.

A Culture of Generosity

Kate shared about the culture of Art2Life:

“I think the whole culture of Art2Life, and it probably comes from the top, it’s just generous. You give as much, you just give and you want to give more. There’s no holding back, there’s no, well, we’ll let them work this one out for themselves.

Everyone, all the coaches, have years of experience and they just can’t wait to set everyone else up for success, make it easier for people and just share. And you can get any question answered at any time because people want to help each other.”

This is so different from traditional art school. As Nadine mentioned, some teachers almost want to make you kind of suffer because they did. They want to keep everyone down there, not coming up on their pedestal. They make it harder.

But at Art2Life, it’s love. It’s generous giving.

Normalizing the Creative Journey

Nadine also shared something profound about what community does during the learning process:

“I think what makes the community in Art2Life and during the Creative Visionary Program is that it’s a huge learning curve. There’s a lot of content. Coming together as a community, it normalizes the struggles that we have.

Some days we feel more positive and we have those wins. And then some days it’s a little bit harder. And all the people that join us, they’re going through the exact same thing. And we all have done it and gone through that. We experience it. We’re just at a different place in time. So we’re here for you.”

The First Place They Feel Understood

What we hear from so many people is this sense of community in CVP is sometimes the first place they’ve really felt understood as an artist.

That is so transformative.

Because you get to find your way and you get to become more yourself. It’s a powerful thing when you’re seen for who you truly are.

And that’s such a powerful part of the Creative Visionary Program that it’s hard to see just looking at the enrollment page. You’ll know it, you’ll feel it right away once you’re inside.

The CVP Bloom Studio: Creating Together 24/7

This year in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the Creative Visionary Program 2026, we’ve created something new.

The CVP Bloom Studio.

This is the first year we’ve ever done it and it’s a 24/7 open studio. You can go online and you’ll be able to do art with somebody else in the world. This is open all the time.

So this sense of community is going to be happening all the time. And no matter where you are in the world, no matter what your time zone, you can connect with other artists and create together.

Because we just know the power of doing this together and not going alone.

Why Community Matters for Your Art

When you’re part of a supportive creative community:

  • You gain momentum faster – The collective energy carries you forward even when you’d normally slow down
  • You become more courageous – Seeing others experiment gives you permission to try new things
  • You make decisions more quickly – The support and feedback help you move forward with confidence
  • You feel understood – Often for the first time as an artist, you’re seen for who you truly are
  • You progress more easily – What would be a struggle alone becomes easier with support
  • You’re never alone – No matter your time zone or schedule, someone is creating with you
